I’ve been handed off to another mortgage company. This one “can definitely close the loan”. Um, ok… why didn’t we go with them first, then?
Anyway, I don’t know whether this is a ruse to buy time waiting for the IRS letter, or if it’s another lame attempt to keep my deposit. Whatever, I’ll ride with it. In the meantime interest rates dropped another quarter percent, so I’m good.

Done with the Christmas shopping… well almost done. My father is very difficult to buy for. If he wants something he goes and gets it; so I can buy him silly things that he won’t use, but I hate waste.

Ok, I’m going to try to go to sleep again. It’s elusive tonight.

Closing near?

Dig this… I haven’t heard anything from anybody about the house. Not the mortgage company, not the builder, it’s been more than a week.
Thursday the title company called me to schedule the closing, for New Year’s Eve. Hello? Did they get the approval? Are they keeping it a secret from me? I have absolutely no idea. I told the title company about my last contact with the builder and that as far as I knew, we weren’t closing. She seemed very confused and we left it that she would call Maronda and get back to me. I never heard from her.
I can wait way longer than they can.

Do you hear that noise? That’s the sound of me not giving a… well, you know. :P

Rabbit Rabbit

Ok, forget everything I said about the house purchase going smoothly. It’s a nightmare… ok, maybe not a nightmare, but it’s not going well. The mortgage company has still not closed the loan and when I requested that they close the loan or refund my money, the builder called me and screamed at me. Screaming and yelling that he had no intention of letting me out of my contract, (hello? I don’t want out of the contract, I want the freakin’ house) and that he had two years to get me an approval before he had to let me out of it. Whatever. I don’t need the money, the market isn’t going to rebound anytime soon and I have all the time in the world. So, go ahead, Maronda and MFC Mortgage, take all the time that you want. My lawyer is going to be contacting you this week. Close the loan or give me my money back. Thank you and have a nice day.

On a brighter note, I am SO loving my sewing machine. I made a bandana pillow for T’s room, I have buttonholing down to a science and I love, love, love my sewing machine. I have so many ideas - but it’s hard to commit the fabric to an untried technique. You know what I mean? I cleaned out H’s closet, which we’ve been meaning to do for about a year and took all the jeans that she’s grown out of for my fabric and notions stash. I think the next project is going to be purses. I haven’t quite figured out which way I want to go, and there’s this argyle ribbon that’s screaming my name, but other than that, I’m good. to. go.
