Step 2…

Wrote a check for the deposit yesterday, signed the contracts and dropped them off today.  Got a phone call at 8PM this evening from the sales agent that she forgot that I needed to give them a cashiers check.  Going to the bank tomorrow, dropping off check, contract will be all signed and ready to go!

As an aside, today is the 9th anniversary of our move to Florida - We’ve come a long way baby.

Yikes!

Well, it looks like we’re buying a house!  After months and months of offers and counter-offers, too high interest rates, ridiculous down payments, he said, she said and some crazy people that think they’re going to get $100,000 more than what their house is worth, we have finally come to an agreement.  It’s the original floor plan that we wanted two years ago and a house that the builder sold and got back, twice.  It’s three blocks from where we’re living now and floor plan is the same except that the one we’re buying has four bedrooms, this one has three.  It’s on a lovely lot, set up high in the neighborhood and there’s a nice wooded buffer between our house and the one behind it.  It’s really quite perfect.  Oh, and it’s a lot less money than we expected to pay a year ago.  It definitely is a buyer’s market, people.  Also, we got an interest rate of 5.875% with 3% down.  It’s definitely time for us to buy. 

We contract tomorrow, supposedly, and I’ll be recording our journey here - more for my own records more than I think anyone might actually be interested, but hey - if something that I’m doing can benefit someone else, so much the better!
