Service Industry

How are you treated by your hair stylist?  The receptionist in the salon?  Your doctor?  Your doctor’s receptionist?  In the past 48 hours, I’ve had run-ins with the receptionist in the doctor’s office, the doctor, the receptionist at the salon and the salon owner (my stylist apparently had a family emergency and had to cancel an appointment - I’ve not had any contact with her).

I’ve thought and thought and thought about all four encounters and I have to say, I’m flabbergasted.  I did not act inappropriately, they did.  They’re in a service industry and it’s their job to provide a service.  If they choose to be confrontational and less than polite, I’m going to mention it.  They make far too much money on me to treat me or my husband or my children with anything less than professional courtesy.  I’ve certainly not been rude to any of them, but I can’t say the same with regard to how we’ve been treated. And the Dr. called me THREE times after the incident.  Not an apology in one of them.  A little “stalker-ish”, I have to say.  I don’t need three phone calls for you to break up with me, one will suffice.

My husband and I both make our living in service industries - we know what that entails, we live it every day.  But I swear to God, I’m not giving another penny to someone who is less than polite.  I don’t care if you’re having a bad day, we all have them.  If you’re taking someone’s money, do it politely.  And if you have to cancel an appointment, at least express your apologies at having to inconvenience the person that you’re canceling.  Oh and I don’t know, try to go a tiny, freaking, little bit out of your way to reschedule at their convenience.

Anyone know a good Dr. or hair stylist in Ocala, FL?
